Prof. Sulaiman is a scientist at Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Center for Polar and Marine Research. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Multimedia University and the Director of SeaNexus. Prior he was a Professor of Ocean Engineering at the University Malaysia Terengganu, a visiting professor at Cranfield University, and a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong. He has taught and mentored marine courses and research projects on contemporary maritime and ocean engineering issues. He was also a Guest Lecturer at the Technical University of KolmHe has also authored and co-authored a total of more than 180 publications and 12 books. He has filed a patent for research work on his work on seaweed aquaculture technology. Professor Sulaiman is also an editorial board reviewer and scientific committee of several international journals. He has served in several working group technical committees, and conferences, and has been an observer in UN rulemaking meetings. He has collaborated with diverse local and international scholars, governments, communities, NGOs, and industries like Technip, Bureau Veritas, and the Danish Hydraulic Institute on key research topics. He is a chartered engineer registered under the UK Engineering Council and a member of several professional associations.
