Habib Tabatabai is a Professor of Structural Engineering and Director of the Structural Engineering Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (USA). Prior to that, he was a Principal Structural Engineer with the CTL Group and a bridge engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation. He has conducted research on topics related to structural engineering and materials including reliability, durability, corrosion, and repair of structures, stay cable testing and condition assessments, jointless bridges, pozzolanic materials, and survival analysis of structures. He is a member of the Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) committee on cable-stayed bridges. He also served as a member of a committee formed by the US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to investigate the collapse of the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico.
